5.6L V-8 Cummins Diesel
Half Ton Cummins Diesel V8 Preview
Cummins is currently developing a V8 & V6 diesel engine for Dodge's half ton trucks. It is unknown when the 1500 Ram will receive a diesel, but Chrysler has chosen Cummins to design and manufacture a light duty diesel for applications smaller than the 2500 & 3500 Ram. By replacing the gasoline engine with the diesel, trucks/suvs will achieve far better fuel economy while greatly reducing emissions. Here is a sneak peak at the V8 being designed as a half ton diesel.
Disclaimer: Very little information has been released on the Cummins V6. Much of the information that has surfaced is speculation, especially performance data. This page will be updated frequently as more exact specifications are released by the manufacturer, so be sure to check back.
Rumor of The Moment: The V8 diesel prototypes have shown similar acceleration characteristics to standard 5.7 liter Hemi engine currently in production. Release of the Cummins V8 has been pushed back due to economic reasons.
